Software Online Review publishes independent reviews of WordPress plugins, and plain-English explainers of the legal rules — GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the ePrivacy Directive, and the growing list of US state privacy laws — that determine what a WordPress site actually needs to be compliant.
What we actually do
Each plugin review covers what’s genuinely in the free tier, what’s gated behind a paid license, and who the plugin is actually a good fit for — not a rewritten feature list copied from the vendor’s own marketing page. Our legal explainers are written for site owners, not lawyers: they cover what the rules require in practice, with real enforcement examples, not just the text of the regulation.
A note on accuracy
Plugin pricing, feature sets, and the underlying laws we cover all change over time — we cite our sources at the end of each article and note where sources disagree. None of this is a substitute for actual legal advice about what your specific site is required to do; treat our compliance content as a starting point for understanding the landscape, not a compliance guarantee.
